NLA Board and Senior Management Meet with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre

The Board of the National Leadership Academy (NLA), led by Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi, together with the Academy’s senior management team, today held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre. The meeting provided an opportunity to brief the Prime Minister on the Academy’s institutional development, progress made to date, key achievements, and ongoing efforts to strengthen NLA’s role in advancing leadership development in Somalia.

The engagement brought together key institutional stakeholders to review the Academy’s progress, discuss its strategic direction, and explore opportunities for continued collaboration in support of its mandate.

During the meeting, the NLA Board and senior management presented an overview of the Academy’s achievements, institutional development, ongoing activities, and key priorities for the next phase. Discussions also focused on areas requiring further attention, with an emphasis on strengthening the Academy’s institutional capacity, enhancing the quality of its leadership development programmes, and ensuring that its work continues to respond effectively to Somalia’s evolving leadership and governance needs.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre commended the progress made in establishing and developing the National Leadership Academy, recognizing the importance of its contribution to strengthening leadership capacity in Somalia. He underscored the significance of cultivating leaders grounded in knowledge, competence, integrity, and a strong sense of national responsibility—values that are essential to building effective institutions and advancing the country’s development.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the National Leadership Academy and the Office of the Prime Minister to supporting the Academy’s continued growth and institutional advancement. It also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement and coordinated efforts to strengthen leadership development, promote public service excellence, and contribute to the emergence of a new generation of capable, ethical, and nationally committed leaders in Somalia.
